Be a Volunteer!

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for all of us. We rely on the contributions of generous individuals, corporations, and foundation sponsorship to provide the vital programs and services that help thousands of community members each year.

Volunteer

We are a nonprofit organization that runs on volunteer support like yours. Volunteers founded the Center. We thank you for your dedication and commitment in helping us develop a more vibrant LGBT community.

Volunteer Opportunities

*On-going volunteers must provide proof of COVID vaccination and pass a background check. 

*General Volunteering:  Monday through Friday: 11 am to -5pm 

Clothing Closet organizing
Food Pantry stocking
Light office cleaning/organizing
Front Desk (training required)
Library Assistance

Event Volunteering:

TGIF: Last Friday of the Month, 5:00-7:30 at different venues, sell raffle tickets and the sign-in table. 

Group Volunteering:

Community Clean-ups: Groups can help beautify the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center’s neighborhood and surroundings by doing a block clean-up. Gloves and bags are provided. 
Center Projects: Painting, demo work, light construction

*Volunteer Activity Coordinators:

Movie Night: Once a month, coordinate a movie night. Select a movie, set up, clean up, and make concessions.
Game Night: Once a month, coordinate a game night. Set up, clean up, and snacks.
Open Mic: Once a month, coordinate an open mic night—set-up, clean-up, concessions, etc.

*All volunteers must be 18 or older.

Volunteer Sign-up Process

  1. Please fill out our online registration

  2. Fill out the Volunteer Intake Form.

  3. Attach your COVID Vaccination Proof to the Volunteer Intake Form.

  4. Attach the Background Disclosure Information form to the Volunteer Intake.

Wish list

In-kind donations help the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center conserve our operating costs and allow us to use those funds for other programs. We are genuinely grateful to donors willing to provide us with the following items:

Items We Can Use Now

  • Books on gender identity, transgender issues, and resources for children on LGBT topics

  • Dish towels & cleaning supplies

  • Clothing storage

Items We Can Always Use

  • General office supplies (paper, pens, staples)

  • Non-perishable individual serving food for the pantry

Items We Often Dream Of Receiving

  • New facility for a larger Center with increased programming and services

  • Washer and Dryer

  • Refrigerator (mini and/or full-sized)

Due to limited storage, please contact us before bringing your donations to the Center to determine how many items we will be able to accept.
