Milwaukee LGBT Community Center Celebrates Diversity and Inclusion!

Join us for upcoming February Events

The Milwaukee LGBT Community will hold a variety of activities during February to celebrate the diversity of our community. These offerings will kick off with a vision board workshop on February 2, and end with a community coffee hour and open house where community members will be able to take a tour of the newly update David Bohnett Cyber Center, on February 23. In celebrating Black History Month, leaders within the LGBTQ and black community will be recognized on our social media platforms for their achievements. Our youth program, Project Q, will be holding several activities and events to commemorate the contributions of African Americans to the LGBTQ community. Stay up to date on these events, open to the community, on the Center’s website, www.mkelgbt.org/events.

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center could not exist without the wonderfully diverse community we serve. We are asking individuals from all parts of our community to reach out and share their stories and ideas so that we may better serve them in the future. The LGBTQ community is an ever-changing and growing community, and we need your help so that we continue to grow with you.

As a result of these initiatives, the Center is actively working toward being collaborative, building relationships, and sustaining impact. “Diversity is inviting everyone to a party, but inclusion is asking everyone to dance,” says the Center’s first Latinx director Amy Orta. “Our staff reflects the individuals we serve, and they work extremely hard to ensure we are continuing our reputation of being a safe place for everyone to enjoy.”
