How do I register to vote?
Everyone needs to be registered. If you've registered to vote in the past and live in the same location, you do not need to register again. Just show up to vote with your state identification or driver’s license card.
Never registered before? Or have you moved since you last registered to vote? You have options:
- Pre-register at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. Stop by and visit the OutVote team!
- Register at the polls. Bring:
- state identification or driver’s license card and
- a recent utility bill, your lease or your university/college student identification card with you and you can register and vote at the same time!

Are you a college/university student?
- You can choose whether you want to vote in your hometown or whether you want to vote from your school address (just don’t do both!)

When can I cast my vote?
You have two choices!
- Vote at City Hall before April 5, 2004
Did you know that you can vote early at your city hall? It’s called “voting absentee in person” and anybody can do it. Your city hall has your ballot ready at least two weeks before the election, and you can just walk in and vote. Remember to bring your state identification/driver’s license card if you’re not registered.
- Vote at your polling place on Election Day, April 6, 2004
All polling places are required to be open from 7am to 8pm on Election Day.
