Staff and volunteers of the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center are busy preparing for our sixth Big Night Out annual gala, which has been scheduled for Saturday, October 11, beginning at 5:30 P.M. at the Northern Lights Theater of Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee. We are excited to have the Danceworks Performance Company as our entertainment for this year’s events. A save-the-date card is forthcoming in August and then an invitation right after Labor Day — both of these will present this year’s gala in more detail. So, keep an eye open on your inbox as both the postcard and invitation will be sent electronically.
Unlike previous years though, while we will have a live auction of four or six items at the event, no silent auction will be conducted on the night of the gala itself. Instead, Big Night Out will present an online auction where items will be available for bidding two weeks prior to the event (beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 27) through the day after the gala (terminating at 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 12). The website that contains the 2008 catalog for the Big Night Out online auction is http://mkelgbt.cmarket.com. By going to that site, you will be able to:
• Review the current catalog (which is being updated regularly as more item for bid arrive).
• Donate items for our online and live auctions.
• Register to become a bidder and receive updates about the auction.
• Make a cash donation to Big Night Out.
• Refer family and friends to the website or to a particular item up for auction.
Remember, however, that until the online auction goes live on September 27, you will not be able to bid on auction items.
