The staff at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center have found that many LGBT people who are new to metropolitan Milwaukee or who are visiting, or intend to visit, the city for the first time generally asked some common questions. We address those frequently asked questions below..

WHERE ARE THE GAY BARS IN MILWAUKEE?
Most of the LGBT-owned, -operated and –friendly bars in Milwaukee are concentrated in an industrial area just south of downtown called Walkers Point. Another region of the city where other LGBT-friendly bars are located is the East Side.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center is housed in a two-story brick building. Parking is available in a lot on the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Court Street. The building is at 315 W. Court Street, two blocks south of Walnut Street and nine blocks north of Wisconsin Avenue. The nearest landmark is the Golda Meir Elementary School across the street.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ACTIVITIES FOR ADULTS?
Yes, two adult social opportunites offered by the Center:
Three to four times a year, the Center hosts a Mix ’n Mingle social gathering for members and their friends to enjoy an entertainment evening out on the town. Previous Mix ’n Mingle events include a cooking demonstration at the Milwaukee Public Market, a game night at The Iron Horse Hotel, and a tour of the Cedar Creek Winery in historic Cedarburg. Each event runs approximately two hours, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on a week night.
The Community Breakfast brings together members of the LGBT community and their allies to discuss topical issues on a quarterly basis. Previous topics explored at our Community Breakfasts include intergenerational LGBT issues, transgender awareness, financial well-being, and coping with the holidays.
